Adam Subject serves as the Lands Manager for Sioux Valley Dakota Nation (SVDN). An Anishinaabe from the Saugeen Ojibway First Nation, he relocated to his wife’s community of SVDN, where he has been instrumental in promoting traditional agricultural practices and community development.

In August 2024, Adam organized the Food, Agriculture, Climate Change, & Traditional Synergies (FACTS) Camp, aiming to reconnect community members with traditional farming methods and address food security challenges posed by climate change. The camp featured activities such as a tour of the Brandon Residential School property, communal meals, and a traditional buffalo harvest, providing hands-on learning experiences for youth.

Adam's initiatives extend to environmental restoration and sustainable agriculture. He has overseen projects like the reseeding of buffalo pastures with native prairie grasses to enhance soil quality and support the health of the buffalo herd. Additionally, he has been involved in developing community gardens and planning a geothermal greenhouse to extend the growing season, providing fresh produce to community members.

Through his leadership, Adam fosters a sense of pride and unity within the community, encouraging a return to traditional ways of farming and agriculture to address contemporary challenges.
