Nov 6, 2024 On October 30, 2024, the National Circle for Indigenous Agriculture and Food (NCIAF) hosted the Nourishing Nations Roundtable at the Atlas Hotel in Regina, Saskatchewan. This vibrant gathering brought together Indigenous leaders to share knowledge, build networks, and strengthen community food systems. Focused on Indigenous-led projects involving gardens, orchards, and greenhouses, the event highlighted NCIAF-supported initiatives and featured insights from provincial experts. Attendees exchanged success stories and practical strategies to grow resilient food sovereignty efforts in their communities. Participants expressed a strong desire to expand these projects, particularly those connecting youth and elders across Indigenous lands. Many described the day as transformative, emphasizing the sense of unity and shared purpose that emerged. “This experience was more than informative — it was transformative,” shared one participant. “The unity and purpose that came through the stories really resonated.” NCIAF looks forward to continuing this momentum with future events that support sustainable, Indigenous-led agricultural futures.
